North Quarter Media RelEase - April 2007

Queensland Minister for Public Works, Mr Robert Schwarten, turned the first sod on the site of the Ross Nielson Properties’ $270 million Northbridge tower today, marking the start of construction of an architectural link between the city’s commercial and cultural precincts.

With the commercial tower to feature public art space within a pedestrian laneway that connects Turbot Street to the Queensland Government’s planned Tank Street Bridge, a major public art prize was also announced today, to source an artist to create the sculptural centrepiece for the development.

North Quarter Media RelEase - DECEMBER 2006

BREATHING new life into one of Brisbane’s grand old buildings, Brisbane Lord Mayor Campbell Newman will today officially unveil the recently refurbished McDonnell and East building.

An important part of the North Quarter precinct, Councillor Newman said the $35 million upgrade of the 94 year old McDonnell and East building meant one of the city’s much loved heritage buildings would play an important role in the exciting new plans for upper George Street.
